Serious road crash closes A77 in Ayrshire as emergency services race to scene

A section of the A77 in Ayrshire remains closed this afternoon as emergency services deal with a serious road traffic accident involving two motorcycles.

It's understood that the emergency services were summoned to an incident before 2pm, at Shalloch Park Roundabout, near Girvan.

Drivers heading north and south on the road are currently being advised to take an alternative route as the road is closed in both directions.

A heavy build-up of traffic has already been reported in the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.55pm on Tuesday, 11 May, we received a report of a serious road crash on the A77 at the Shalloch Park roundabout involving two motorcycles.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance. The road has been closed and local diversions are in place.”
