The Serious Fraud Office today charged three former top G4S executives with multiple offences of fraud against the taxpayer over the scandal over its electronic monitoring of offenders.
The three men worked for G4S Care and Justice Services (UK), which in July agreed to a deferred prosecution agreement with the SFO.
The SFO said they had been charged with “multiple offences in relation to a multi-year scheme to defraud the Ministry of Justice”.
They are: Richard Morris, former Managing Director of G4S C&J, Mark Preston, former Commercial Director of G4S C&J’s electronic monitoring business, and James Jardine, former Finance Manager and Acting Commercial Director of G4S C&J’s electronic monitoring business.
Each have been charged with seven offences of fraud.
The charges are in connection with false representations made to the MoJ between 2009 and 2012, the SFO said in a statement.
The men appeared for their first hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today and are due to appear at Southwark Crown Court on 6th October 2020.
