Two people taken to hospital after 'serious collision' on A52

Traffic had to be stopped in both directions on part of the A52 due to a serious collision.

Reports were made of a crash around 10.30pm on Wednesday night (March 3) by Highways England.

Emergency services attended the incident and traffic was held on the A52 between Gamston and Saxondale.

Highways England tweeted at around 10.30pm: "The A52 in both directions Gamston (A6011 Nottingham) to Saxondale (A46 Leicester, Newark) traffic has been temporarily stopped due to a serious collision.

"Nottinghamshire Police, EMAS and Maintenance Crews are currently at the scene."

The eastbound carriageway was reopened just over an hour later.

A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "We were called by EMAS at 10.13pm to report of a two car collision on A52 in Saxondale.

"Two people taken to hospital to be checked over. Road was clear by 11.50pm."
