Man rushed to hospital in Hamilton as locals report delivery driver attacked

A man has been rushed to hospital after a serious assault in Hamilton.

Police were called to a 'disturbance' involving two men on the town's Portland Place earlier this afternoon.

One of the men involved was rushed to hospital following the attack.

Local reports suggest the incident involved a DPD delivery driver, although police have yet to confirm more details.

Police remain on the scene as they launch an investigation into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.40pm on Tuesday, 19 May, 2020, police received a report of a disturbance in involving two men in Portland Place, Hamilton.

"One man has been taken to hospital following a serious assault.

"Officers remain at the scene conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances."
