Serious assault in Glasgow leaves man hospitalised as cops launch probe

A man has been hospitalised following a serious assault in Glasgow city centre.

Emergency crews scrambled to Argyle Street, near Jamaica Street, just after 9.30pm on Friday.

The alarm was raised after reports came in of a man being seriously assaulted in the area.

Officers found an injured 28-year-old man at the scene.

He was rushed to hospital for treatment.

The man's current medical condition is not known at this stage.

Police did not disclose which hospital he was taken to or any further details surrounding the incident.

The incident has sparked a police investigation.

Witnesses or those with information are being urged to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Record: "At around 9.35pm on Friday, October 1, officers were called to a report of a man seriously assaulted on Argyle Street near to Jamaica Street, Glasgow.

"Ambulance attended and the 28-year-old man was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish more details and any witnesses, or anyone with information should contact officers through 101 quoting reference 3602 of October 1."
