Cops warn of residential burglaries on Northwest Side

March 04--Police are warning people of a series of residential burglaries on the Northwest Side in February.

Seven burglaries happened primarily during day and early evening hours in the Belmont Central, Cragin and Hanson neighborhoods between Feb. 6 and Feb. 24, according to the Chicago Police Department.

In all incidents, burglars entered apartments and other residences through either a window or a door and stole electronics, jewelry, cash and other items, according to the statement.

The latest burglary occurred between 2 and 6 p.m. Feb. 24 in the 5500 block of West Schubert Avenue.

Other reported break-ins:

--Between 2 and 3:15 p.m. Feb. 20 in the 2900 block of North Long Avenue

--Between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 17 in the 2700 block of North Lockwood Avenue

--Between 3:30 and 6 p.m. Feb. 16 in the 2600 block of North Parkside Avenue

--Between 4 and 6:40 p.m. Feb. 12 in the 3000 block of North Mango Avenue

--Between 3:30 and 4:40 p.m. Feb. 12 in the 2100 block of North Latrobe Avenue

--Around 8 a.m. Feb. 6 in the 2400 block of North Marmora Avenue

Police are urging area residents to make sure windows and doors are locked.
