Serie A title race takes twist as final day drama awaits McTominay and Gilmour

Scotland duo Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour will have to wait until the final day of the Serie A season to discover whether they will win the Scudetto.

It comes after their Napoli side and Internazionale both dropped points on Sunday evening.

Antonio Conte's men travelled to face relegation-threatened Parma on the penultimate matchday of the campaign, but could only conjure up a goalless draw.

Thankfully for their sake, Inter struggled at home against Lazio. They led on two occasions through Yann Bisseck and Denzel Dumfries, although veteran winger Pedro pegged them back each time as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Sunday evening's results mean McTominay and Gilmour's Napoli remain one point ahead of Inter going into the final day of the season. They just have to match the result of the San Siro outfit on Sunday to get their hands on what would be the club's fourth Italian top-flight title.

Napoli host Cagliari this weekend as Inter make the trip to face Como.

McTominay and Gilmour both moved to Naples from England last summer. The former has enjoyed particular success in Italy, scoring 12 goals in 35 appearances since his switch.

Legendary Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho recently hailed McTominay as one of Europe's elite.

He said [Scottish FA]: "When I think of Scotland, I think of my boy, Scott McTominay.

"For me he's one of the best midfielders in Europe. That kid is fantastic and I'm so proud of his career because I got him when he was 18 when nobody at Manchester United believed he could be the player he is."
