Serie A striker says Liverpool forward is best in the world

Roberto Firmino is the world's best striker.

That's the view of a Colombian international who is out the emulate the Liverpool No9.

Atalanta forward Luis Muriel was asked which attacker he believes is the best in world football right now.

While you'd expect the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Lewandowski or Neymar to be name-checked, Muriel opted for a less prolific option.

The former Udinese, Sampdoria and Sevilla man told Corriere dello Sport that Firmino's overall attributes are worth more than goals.

The 28-year-old, who has bagged eight in 11 Serie A games so far this seaon, said: “You are expecting me to name a player who scores 40 times every season.

“I have a different idea and say Firmino because of his huge quality and because it’s not just about smashing them in.

"He will send you through on goal with a flick, and for me that is worth more."

Kopites, of course, will say they've known this all along. 'The best in the world his name is Bobby Firmino', the song goes. And Muriel agrees.
