Atalanta have made "concrete attempts" to sign Celtic midfielder Arne Engels, according to reports in Italy.
After a third-placed finish in Serie A, I Nerazzurri are looking to tool up for a tilt at the title next season and therefore are looking at transfer plans ahead of the summer window.
Having sold Teun Koopmeiners to Juventus last summer, further key players could be sold this year with Ederson and Ademola Lookman likely to attract interest. Atalanta are thought to be happy to cash in if they can find adequate squad replacements.
And Celtic's record-signing Engels is one of they players they are looking at, reports Sport Italia.
It is claimed "concrete attempts" have already been made for the Belgian, 21, and Morten Frendrup in Genoa as they attempt to bolster the midfield.

Ex-Celtic favourite could be set for Serie A switch
Other names on the wanted list include Rayan Cherki, Odilon Kossounou, Joel Ordonez and Oumar Solet.
Engels only moved to the Hoops last summer in a record-breaking switch from Bundesliga side Augsburg.
A productive first season has brought 10 goals and 13 assists and the midfielder will be a key man in the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen, where he could land a third trophy from a dream first campaign.
The money splashed on him last summer would have been seen as in investment and Hoops chiefs would hope to make a significant profit if moving him on. Atalanta were interested in Matt O'Riley as Celtic demanded around £30m until Brighton were the ones to eventually cough up.
