Serie A side 'line up bid' for surprise Manchester United midfielder and more transfer rumours

Serie A side Fiorentina are readying a bid to sign Manchester United midfielder Fred - according to reports.

The Brazilian joined the club from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer, but has struggled to adapt to life in England, scoring just one goal in the Premier League.

His long-term future at the club remains unclear having slipped behind Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira in the pecking order - he is yet to feature under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.

According to calciomercato, Fiorentina are willing to offer the 26-year-old an escape route to the Serie A, but are wary that United are unwilling to let another midfielder leave following the departure of Ander Herrera.

Nevertheless, the Italians value Fred at €30million and have made an enquiry to United as to whether they would be open to selling him.

Given United paid £47m to sign the Brazil international, they would be accepting a massive loss by allowing him to move to Italy.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mail suggest that United will insist on a £20m obligation to buy clause in any loan deal for Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean is in talks with Inter Milan over a move to the Serie A and United will still have to pay the bulk of his wages should a deal be completed.

Therefore, the Reds reportedly want an obligation to buy at the end of the spell, although Inter would only be willing to pay the former Arsenal forward £150,000-per-week if he moved to the San Siro permanently.
