Serial thug who promoted crime rehab scheme one of first Scots jailed in 2022

A thug who promoted a taxpayer-funded rehabilitation scheme for repeat offenders has been jailed.

David Robb was locked-up for eight months after he caused chaos in a takeaway shop and threatened police officers while shouting homophobic slurs.

His sentence comes after he was picked to help publicise a programme aimed at stopping offenders from breaking the law.

The 32-year-old took part in a publicity drive in 2016 for the Public Social Partnership - a scheme funded by public money which works to prevent re-offending.

However Robb became one of the first people to be jailed in 2022 when he appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday after being arrested for his conduct on Hogmanay.

He swore, threatened violence, tried to grab a metal pole and attempted to enter a staff only zone in a fast food outlet in the town.

The drama happened in Fazil King kebab shop before he turned on officers sent to arrest him.

Robb also headbutted and kicked their police car, and assaulted Police Constable Steven Gorry by repeatedly kicking him on the body.

When promoting the Public Social Partnership, Robb said: "Every prisoner who gets offered this should grab it because it might be the best thing they ever do."

However he was jailed four different times in 2018 for various offences including threatening to shoot police officers.
