A new documentary titled The Sons of Sam: A Descent into Darkness has dropped on Netflix today.
The series will explore serial killer David Berkowitz, who gained the nickname Son of Sam when he left a note at the scene of one of the murders.
He murdered six people and injured a number of others in a series of gruesome attacks in New York City from 1976 to 1977.
The killer would send letters to the police bragging about the attacks, with Berkowitz claiming he was acting on the orders of his dog Sam - who was a demon.
Later on, he finally admitted that his previous claims were fake and there was no actual demon possessing his pet dog.
The first two victims were teenagers Donna Lauria and Jody Valenti, friends who were sitting in their cars in Pelham Bay before they were brutally attacked.

The nickname for Berkowitz began after he murdered Alexander Esau and Valentina Suriani.
The note read: "I am deeply hurt by your calling me a women hater. I am not. But I am a monster. I am the 'Son of Sam'.
"Sam loves to drink blood. 'Go out and kill' commands father Sam."

Berkowitz was finally found after a witness reported seeing his vehicle to the police.
He is currently serving six consecutive life sentences.
The bone-chilling confession from Berkowitz that he didn't work alone resulted in journalist Maury Terry wanting to find out more.
The series, divided into four parts, dives into the journalist's research, interviews as well as uses case files and interviews with those involved in the investigation.
The Sons of Sam is available to stream on Netflix now.
