Serial flasher who traumatised two little girls just minutes apart has been jailed

A serial flasher traumatised two little girls just minutes apart only months after being released from jail for similar offences.

Richard Graham, 31, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to exposure and breach of a sexual harm prevention order at Minshull Street Crown Court.

The pervert had not long been released from prison for exposing himself to three children, aged 12, 13, and 14 in 2020.

Prosecuting, Miss Lisa Boocock described how at 5pm on August 9, 2021 Graham exposed himself to an 11-year-old girl as she left her grandmother's house in Bury.

Miss Boocock said the child described how she saw Graham park up in a black car.

She said she then went down a back street and stopped to see who was following her.

The 11-year-old said Graham was standing on the pavement looking directly at her. He took his pants down half way and showed her his penis.

She described it as 'straight.'

The little girl said he started whistling while holding his penis at which point she ran back to her grandmother's house and asked to be taken back to her parents.

The court heard how they saw the car again on the street and she pointed it out to her grandmother.

Miss Boocock described how since the incident the child is "afraid to go anywhere, she has to go with other people if she wants to go out.

"She is scared of older men and parked cars on the street."

The court heard how at 5.20pm a 12-year-old girl was left scared when she saw Graham sat in his parked car and he said "Hi" to her before blowing her a kiss.

Defending, Miss Rachel Cooper said custody was having no effect on preventing Graham from further offending.

She said: "He needs offence focused work to interrupt his offending.

"Prison has so far not had an effect.

"His offending needs to be addressed and interrupted."

But Judge Angela Nield said he had been given the opportunity to do offence focused work two years ago when he was given a custodial sentence for a similar offence.

Miss Cooper also said Graham was acknowledging his offences when previously he had denied it.

Judge Nield said: "Young girls and young people of both sexes are vulnerable because of their age and naivety and they are vulnerable to those who want to cause them harm.

"Your approach and following in your car and winking at a scared young girl did harm.

"It did harm particularly to a girl who had been visiting her grandma on a street where she was entitled to feel safe.

"She now has a fear of older men , you disturbed and destabilised a young life.

"She was not able to describe what you were doing such was her naivety.

"Your offences are of great concern to members of the public at large.

"They are offences that strike at the youth of community

"The protection of these children is paramount."

Judge Nield sentenced Graham to eight months custody for exposure and six months custody for breach of sexual harm prevention order to be served consecutively.
