A serial criminal who robbed a bookmakers only weeks after being freed early from jail has been locked up for four years.
Scott McMillan raided a Ladbrokes betting shop in Hamilton in June this year, stealing £175.
The 29-year-old had been armed with a large knife and shouted at a worker: “Give money over.”
It emerged McMillan had been jailed for three years for a similar offence in 2018. But, he was then freed in May this year – three weeks before this latest crime.
McMillan last week returned to the High Court in Glasgow, having earlier pled guilty to assault and robbery.
He also admitted later spitting on a police officer.
Lord Turnbull told him: “You know as well as anyone that you have a bad record of offending.
“This is the second occasion that you have appeared in the high court.
“I cannot ignore that this was a serious offence committed a few days really from your early release.”
The judge also ordered McMillan to be supervised for a further two years on his release.
As he was lead to the cells, Lord Turnbull told him: “The future is in your hands, Mr McMillan.”
The court previously heard how the robber was held on the night of the raid after being traced form CCTV.
