Serial abuser attacked boyfriend with knife after boozing session

A serial domestic abuser has been jailed after stabbing her boyfriend and hitting him with a bottle.

After sentencing Natalie Leach to 15 months, the sheriff warned the couple they should call time on their “tempestuous” relationship.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard Leach lashed out at Johnathan Moore with a knife after a drinking session at a friend’s flat.

He suffered a wound to his arm that caused damage to muscles and nerves.

The victim now has little feeling or movement in his hand and had to get his mother to write a victim impact statement for the court.

Leach, 40, admitted stabbing Johnathan in Motherwell on November 7 last year.

At the time of the attack, the couple, who had been seeing each other on and off for six years, were “sofa surfing” and had been drinking all night and into the next day.

Wendy McAdam, prosecuting, said Leach had been accusing Johnathan of cheating on her.

The court heard that when he tried to leave, she struck out with a knife, leaving him with blood pouring from a wound on his arm.

After handing Leach a non-harassment order lasting three years, the sheriff said: “This is a couple who are better apart than together.”
