Sergio Romero lifts lid on Zlatan Ibrahimovic fight at Manchester United

Sergio Romero has lifted the lid on what it was like to share a dressing room with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Manchester United and revealed the pair even once 'fought a little bit' after a training session.

Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero, 34, moved to Venezia last month as a free agent following his release from United and could face former team-mate Ibrahimovic in Serie A this season.

At the age of 40, the Swedish striker still remains one of the biggest names in Italian football and has established himself as a pivotal figure for AC Milan both on and off the pitch.

During their time together at Old Trafford the duo won the Europa League, League Cup and Community Shield and Romero believes the attitude of Ibrahimovic was crucial in such success.

“Ibra is a true champion, for all that this word means,” Romero told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“At United we challenged each other in the shots on goal, as well as free-kicks: he always had something right to say to his teammates, to make his mentality understood and conveyed.

“He always told us that the intensity and desire we put into training we’d then find it in the match. One day we even fought a little but afterwards he came to me and said: ‘This is what I want from you and from the others, you have South American blood and you understand faster. You will see that at the end of the season we will win something’. He was right.”
