Sergio Romero 'considering Man Utd future' over club's refusal to drop David de Gea

Sergio Romero is reportedly considering his Manchester United future due to being unhappy over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's refusal to drop David de Gea.

Under-fire Spaniard De Gea has made a string of errors since the season restart but has so-far managed to keep his place between the sticks for the Red Devils.

His latest blunder came in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea when he let Mason Mount's speculative effort go under his body and into the back of the net.

Romero, a 96-cap Argentina international, has acted as understudy to De Gea since arriving at Old Trafford in 2015, but was annoyed not to start the Chelsea clash at Wembley having played in every other round of the FA Cup up to that point.

A similar thing happened in the Carabao Cup, where Romero featured up until the semi-final against Manchester City, only for Solskjaer then to pick De Gea.

And that has led to him considering his future at United, report the Metro.

Romero, 33, has one year left on his Red Devils deal, with his situation further complicated by the emergence of Dean Henderson.

Henderson, 23, has impressed on loan at Sheffield United, helping the Blades win promotion to the Premier League last term and their unlikely - but ultimately unsuccessful - bid for European football this term.

The England Under-21 international is viewed as De Gea's long-term successor and has made no secret of his desire to usurp the former Atletico Madrid keeper at Old Trafford.
