Sergio Reguilon to Manchester United: Transfer links intensify after Sevilla sign alternative left-back

Manchester United have received a boost in their reported pursuit of Sergio Reguilon as rivals Sevilla announce the signing of Marcos Acuna.

United have been heavily linked with a move for Real Madrid left-back Reguilon during the summer transfer window to provide competition for Luke Shaw.

Reguilon spent last season on loan with Sevilla, who were also credited with interest in another temporary deal by Fabrizio Romano.

However, recent reports that Sevilla had dropped out of the race to sign Reguilon appear to have been confirmed with the Spanish club announcing the signing of Sporting Lisbon full-back Acuna.

The deal leaves the door open for United to swoop, having completed just the one first-team signing of the summer in Donny van de Beek.

United will reportedly not pay Madrid's initial €30million (£27.6m) valuation of the Spaniard, and will also reject the club's proposal to include a buy-back clause in any deal made.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to bolster his defence this summer, Dayot Upacemcano is another player who is also said to be on the Norwegian's wishlist.

But the Red Devils have received a blow in the transfer of Jadon Sancho - who remains Solskjaer's priority signing - as Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre has confirmed he expects the England international to stay this summer.
