Sergio Reguilon explains why Tottenham fans will have to show patience with Bryan Gil

Tottenham fans should get to see plenty more of Bryan Gil over the coming weeks following some bright performances recently.

Making his case for a starting spot with a strong performance in the Carabao Cup win at Wolves, the Spaniard dropped down to the bench for the North London Derby but caught the eye in a 20-minute cameo.

Again impressing in flashes in the midweek win over NS Mura in the Europa Conference League, Gil is certainly giving Nuno Espirito Santo something to think about at present.

Already knowing Sergio Reguilon at the club having played alongside him during his time at Sevilla, the left-back has stated that the new Spurs man will need time to settle in before he finds his best form in N17.

"I played with him at Sevilla, and he is a fantastic guy," he told the club's official matchday programme. "He's very young though, so he's going to need time to settle and get used to his new surroundings. But he is a fantastic professional.

"He has so much energy about him as well, and you can see that in the way he performs on the pitch."

Having joined the club himself last year after leaving Spanish giants Real Madrid, Reguilon now finally has the chance to play in front of a capacity crowd at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with supporters not in attendance for the vast majority of last campaign.

The 24-year-old has revealed it's now a "completely different experience" for him.

"In the dressing room last season, all the players were talking about was the fans," he explained.

"They were telling me about the amount of fans that would be going to away games, like Wolves the other week. I was like 'okay', I would listen to them, but I wanted to feel that sensation, the feeling of having the fans there, myself.

"I remember the game against Arsenal at home last season, we won 2-0, but only 2,000 fans could be there. I could feel a bit of sensation of what it would be like with fans in the stadium from that game. But, this year, when everything started to open, with all the fans and families able to come to the stadium, it's now a completely different experience.

"It's so important for us to have the fans close as the games as well as our family and friends. Then you can feel that atmosphere properly."
