Sergio Reguilon earns Spain call-up while one Tottenham player returns early due to injury

Two Tottenham players have had their international duties flipped before they were both set to play in games against Kosovo this week.

Sergio Reguilon has been called up to join the Spain squad after fellow left-back, Jose Gaya, picked up an injury in their game on Sunday night.

Spain lost their first game against Sweden but won 4-0 against Georgia on Sunday. Gaya was unable to finish the game and will travel back to Valencia, as a precaution, paving way for Reguilon to replace him.

The Lilywhites defender will travel to Kosovo on Tuesday and join Spain for their final fixture of this international break.

Spurs fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that the 24-year-old doesn't pick up any injuries and will be fit to play in their Premier League game against Crystal Palace, on Sunday.

On the flip side, Ryan Sessegnon has withdrawn from the England U21s and returned to north London for assessment, after picking up a knock in training, whilst preparing for their Championship qualifying fixture on Tuesday night.

Liverpool's Harvey Elliott has also returned back to his club. Elliott and the 21-year-old have been replaced by Aston Villa's Aaron Ramsey.

Sessegnon made his England U21s debut in 2018 and also featured in the U23 squad in 2019, but will have to wait to get another England cap.

He will return to north London for assessment and Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping he can get back to full fitness, as soon as possible, so he can remain an option for Spurs' upcoming fixtures.
