'Sergio Ramos will be at Real Madrid his whole life' - Florentino Perez reassures fans over contract talks

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reassured fans over the protracted contract negotiations with captain Sergio Ramos.

The defender's current deal expires in the summer of 2021 and he hopes to sign for two more years after that, but the club have only offered one so far.

Asked about the situation following Real Madrid's LaLiga win on Thursday night, Perez said: "Ramos is going to be here his whole life, so the fans can be calm.

"He has been impressive as a leader, the team are a close group and much of the reason for that lies with him."

Perez also praised coach Zinedine Zidane after the Frenchman secured his first major trophy (after also claiming the Spanish Supercopa in January) in his second spell in charge.

"Someone passed me a tweet which says he has won a trophy every 19 games," he said.

"ZIdane is a blessing from heaven and people can criticise him if they want, but we will continue winning trophies."
