Sergio Ramos' Instagram message to John Terry amid talk of receiving Chelsea transfer offer

Chelsea legend John Terry has been exchanging messages with reported Blues transfer target Sergio Ramos.

Whilst Thomas Tuchel has been tipped to bolster his squad with a central defender this summer amid links to Raphael Varane, it's another player with ties to Real Madrid that could save the club millions in the summer transfer market.

After 16 years of service, it was announced last month that Sergio Ramos was to leave Los Blancos when his contract officially expired.

A statement via the La Liga giants' official website reads: "Real Madrid C. F. announces that today, Thursday 17 June, at 12:30 p.m., an institutional act of tribute and farewell to our captain Sergio Ramos will be held, which will be attended by our president Florentino Perez."

And that day came at midnight on July 1, 2021 which means as of publication, Sergio Ramos is a free agent.

But for how long?

As expected, given that a player of Ramos' calibre is now on the market and can be signed for free, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive.

And according to Spanish TV broadcaster, El Chiringuito, who have close connections to the La Liga giants, Chelsea have made an offer to Ramos in the hope of persuading him to move to Stamford Bridge.

Although, it remains to be seen if the Blues are successful as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are also reportedly in the running.

With that said, Chelsea fans might be interested to read about an exchange between Ramos and former captain Terry on social media less than 24 hours after reports of an offer emerged.

The latter took to Instagram and uploaded a graphic that has ranked defenders in terms of goals scored.

Unsurprisingly, with 103 goals to his name, Ramos was top of the list with Terry as the runner-up having netted 66 goals during his playing career.

But there was no bitterness on Terry's part as he tagged Ramos in the post with a crown and football emoji to suggest the former Real Madrid captain is the king.

And it's clear that the 35-year-old was appreciative as he replied with a classy message.

"Thank you, bro. It's a pleasure to be on the list with so many great players," Ramos wrote on Instagram.

Perhaps the next message Ramos receives from Terry will be a welcome to Chelsea one if the Blues are able to seal a deal for the prolific central defender.
