Sergio Ramos confirms he's staying at Real Madrid after China offer

Sergio Ramos has confirmed he's staying at Real Madrid in a press conference in the Spanish capital, and wants to see out his contract which has two years left to run.

"There has been too much speculation about my future and I wanted to reiterate my commitment to the club," said Ramos, who has been linked with a move to the Chinese Super League.

"My relationship with the president is similar to that of a father and son.

"I want to reiterate that I want to see out my contract at Real Madrid.

"There is an offer from China and if I didn't feel wanted than it's an alternative, but at present my deal is with Real Madrid and my plan is to see out my contract.

"There has been too much speculation and I wanted to clear this matter up."

Following several reports that the four-time Champions League-winning defender was set to leave the club and move to China, Ramos and Real president Florentino Perez seemingly sorted out their issues during a meeting on Wednesday.

AS report that, unlike a previous meeting held earlier in the week, this time the club captain and president were alone, with Ramos revealing the details of the contract he had been offered by an unnamed Chinese Super League club, and Perez telling him that he wasn't allowed to walk away from the club on a free transfer.

Ramos, 33, has also won four La Liga titles at the Bernabeu. He has played 606 times for Real, scoring 84 goals.

Perez's anger over Ramos's desire to leave the club on a free transfer stems from the fact that he is still contracted to the club until 2021.

Earlier in the week he told Spanish radio station Onda Cero: ""I told Ramos that it was impossible for Real Madrid to let their captain go for free.

"They (Ramos, his brother and his lawyer) came to see me at the office and they told me that they had a very good offer from China but that the rules there do not allow them to pay the transfer."
