Sergio Busquets believes Lionel Messi could have suffered a broken nose in Barcelona's 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Old Trafford.
The Argentine forward came off second best in an aerial duel with United defender Chris Smalling and was temporarily sidelined with a bloodied nose.
Messi soon returned but failed to breach United's defensive line after providing the assist for Luis Suarez's 13th-minute header that cannoned in off an unaware Luke Shaw.
United will have to score at least twice at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night to reach the semi-final stage of the competition for the first time since 2011, but Busquets is sure that Messi will be fit for the game.
"I think Messi has a broken nose," the midfielder told reporters. "It was a big hit on him. There was a lot of blood and I'm not sure if there's a fracture or not.
"There was a cut on his eyelid. He was uncomfortable and it bothered him while playing but Leo always plays on with this sort of injury in the best way possible."
