Manchester City have said that their star striker Sergio Agüero will be out for another month.
The Argentinian was carried off with a leg injury during the World Cup qualifier with Ecuador just days after scoring five goals in the 6-1 victory over Newcastle United earlier this month.
Speaking before the home tie with Sevilla in the Champions League, City’s manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed his side would be missing not only Agüero but also the injured David Silva, Fabian Delph and Gaël Clichy.
“Aguero is out for a month. Maybe next week Clichy, Delph and Silva will be fit,” he said.
The defenders Vincent Kompany and Aleksandar Kolarov, however, were both passed fit.
If there was one bright spot for Agüero it was the announcement that he was on the list for the 2015 Ballon d’Or award.
“It’s not surprising that Sergio has been nominated for the Ballon d’Or,” Pellegrini said. “It is a surprise he has won nothing here in the past.”
