Sergio Aguero to face no action over Sian Massey-Ellis incident during Man City vs Arsenal match

Sergio Aguero will not face any retrospective action for putting a hand on the shoulder of assistant referee Sian Massey-Ellis during Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Arsenal.

Aguero was criticised for placing his hand on Massey-Ellis’ shoulder after the official awarded Arsenal a throw-in at the Etihad on Saturday.

But touching an official is not an offence and it is understood the PGMOL do not view Aguero’s action as aggressive or threatening.

Massey-Ellis shrugged off Aguero’s move at the time and the 32-year-old striker, who was making his first appearance in four months following injury, was not penalised by referee Chris Kavanagh.

Labour MP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan branded Aguero’s behaviour as "completely unacceptable" but Pep Guardiola defended the striker after the game.

The City manager said: “Come on guys. Sergio is the nicest person I have ever met in my life. Look for problems in other situations, not in this one.
