Sergio Aguero 'ticks the box' for Chelsea transfer as Thomas Tuchel makes Liverpool admission

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Wednesday, April 14.

Aguero to Chelsea claim made by Merson

Paul Merson believes Sergio Aguero "ticks the box" for Chelsea with the way Thomas Tuchel sets up his side.

Manchester City recently announced that their all-time top scorer will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

However, his next destination is still up in the air - with the Blues being linked with a move for the Argentine forward.

But Aguero is also being linked with a return to Spain, where he came from back in 2011 when he arrived in Manchester after signing from Atletico Madrid.

Merson, speaking in his Sky Sports column, thinks Aguero to Chelsea makes loads of sense.

"He ticks the box for me and the way Chelsea play - Chelsea are dominant in football matches, they dictate games and have a lot of possession, they play neat and tidy football around the box and they are looking for that little ball," the ex-Arsenal midfielder said.

"They are not trying to hit a ball from the halfway line into a load of space, you are playing at Chelsea and when you kick off at Chelsea, you are immediately faced with 10 men behind the ball, so you need an Aguero who is sharp over three to five yards, that little ball down the side and into the box."

Tuchel makes Liverpool admission

Thomas Tuchel has admitted he would rather avoid Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final.

Chelsea progressed into the last four of the competition with a 2-1 aggregate victory over Porto, despite losing last night's second-leg 1-0.

But the Blues did the hard work in the first leg, where they scored two away goals which ultimately saw them secure progression into the next stage.

Chelsea will take on either Liverpool or Real Madrid - with the latter boasting a 3-1 advantage going into this evening's second leg at Anfield.

Despite Madrid's dominant performance in the first-leg last week, Tuchel has admitted he'd rather face the 13-time champions of Europe than the Blues' Premier League rivals.

The German coach said: "I like it in Champions League not to play in teams from your own league, it gives the feeling more of a European competition.

"The game is far from over and I will watch it for sure. It’s a pleasure to watch it as a semi-finalist.

"It’s a great achievement and tomorrow we will watch the game. Everything is possible. We will take what we get."

Haaland transfer decision amid rumours

Borussia Dortmund have made it clear to Erling Haaland's agent, Mino Raiola, that the striker is not for sale this summer.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for the Norway forward this summer after a sensational season at Dortmund.

However, according to controversial agent Raiola, the Bundesliga club do not want to sell their prized asset.

"I can confirm that I was in Dortmund for talks," Raiola said, as quoted by Sport1. "Michael Zorc made it clear to us that BVB does not want to sell this summer.

"I respect that opinion, but it does not automatically mean that I also agree. BVB were very clear in their views. We are okay with that."

Also, according to Sport1, Haaland has set his sights on joining either Manchester City or Real Madrid, despite the reported interest from Chelsea.
