Sergio Aguero thanks goal-line technology after netting vital winner against Burnley

Man City striker Sergio Aguero was happy that goal-line technology was in play when in play after his winner against Burnley just about counted.

City needed a victory over Burnley or else Liverpool would have been handed a huge advantage in the Premier League title race with just two games remaining.

It was a tough game at Turf Moor, with a resolute Burnley defence frustrating City for large periods.

City weren't themselves in the opening 45 minutes but began to turn the screw in the second half. City were denied a clear penalty when the ball struck Ashley Barnes' arm but a goal was coming and it eventually arrived on the 63rd minute.

The ball ricocheted in the area and landed at Aguero's feet who's shot goal-wards was cleared away by Matt Lowton on the line, but not before it had already fully crossed over.

It was the breakthrough City desperately needed and they held on to grind out a pivotal 1-0 win.

Aguero spoke after the game at how happy he was with scoring such an important goal.

"Today was happy with the technology," the Argentine told Sky Sports, though he was sure it had already gone in.

What pleased Pep Guardiola most about Man City win at Burnley

Man City fans mock Liverpool FC supporters and Jurgen Klopp following Burnley victory

"I think so, yes. I’m very happy with the goal because the first half we had a lot of chances so it’s important.

"When I scored I just enjoyed the moment and share it with my teammates because we had to do a lot to win this game.

"I’m very happy for the win. Now we have one week to prepare the next game so we are happy."

Aguero became the first and only player since Thierry Henry to score 20+ goals in five consecutive Premier League seasons with the goal.
