Sergio Agüero ruled out of Champions League match with Juventus

Manuel Pellegrini and Vincent Kompany look ahead to the clash with Juventus.

Sergio Agüero has been ruled out of Manchester City’s Champions League match with Juventus on Tuesday after sustaining an injury during the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

“Sergio is not fit for tomorrow,” the City manager, Manuel Pellegrini, said. “We will wait on him. We will see this afternoon how long it will be.”

However Raheem Sterling and David Silva have been given the all-clear to play after missing the match at Palace.

Agüero was on the receiving end of a robust Scott Dann challenge, who was booked for the challenge, and was substituted after hurting his right knee.

“Thanks everyone for your concern,” Agüero tweeted after the game, which saw City maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season with five wins from five. “I got a hard hit and it prevented me from playing more. It doesn’t seem to be a serious injury though.”

City get their European campaign under way at the Etihad against the Serie A champions, who have made a stuttering start to their league title defence with two defeats and a draw from their opening three games. Sevilla and Borussia Mönchengladbach are the other sides in Group D.
