Sergio Aguero makes Man City statue admission following goal vs Crystal Palace

Sergio Aguero has admitted that he told Manchester City he doesn't want a statue of himself at the Etihad, at least until he has left the club.

City secured a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday that has put them within touching distance of their fifth Premier League title and it was fitting that Aguero scored the important opener.

The Argentine blasted a half-volley into the roof of the net in emphatic fashion, with Ferran Torres adding the second just 86 seconds later.

Aguero doesn't have too much time to extend his record as City's top goal scorer, after it was confirmed that he will be leaving the club following a trophy laden decade upon the expiration of his contract in the summer.

City confirmed that a statue will be made of Aguero, as well as David Silva and Vincent Kompany, to honour all he has done for the club but the 32-year-old wants to wait before tributes are made.

"When the club told me about that I told them I don’t want anything, honestly," he told BT Sport.

"I prefer to wait until the end because I said three or four years ago, I'll let them decide inside. I'll play until the end, it's my job.

"If the club want to do something, then ok, thank you."

On his fine striker, Aguero added: "Always [Benjamin] Mendy tries to pass to me. All I needed in the box was one touch or two touches. Finally, I got the goal. I’m so happy about that. I continue in the same way."
