Sergio Aguero injury: Man City striker ruled out of FA Cup semi final against Chelsea

Sergio Aguero will miss Manchester City's FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea as he is yet to recover from a muscle problem, Pep Guardiola has confirmed

Aguero has missed City's last three games and is running out of time to add to his record of 257 goals in 385 games for the club before leaving when his Etihad contract expires this summer.

City's all-time leading goalscorer has been blighted by injuries all season, which is part of the reasoning behind his scheduled departure at the end of the season.

When asked whether Aguero would be able to feature at Wembley on Saturday, Guardiola said: "No, not yet."

The Argentina international has made jsut 15 appearances for City this season, scoring three goals, and has only played once since announcing that his time in Manchester would soon come to an end.

City do not have any other injury concerns ahead of the meeting with Thomas Tuchel's side, having come through their Champions League quarter-final win over Borussia Dortmund unscathed.

Guardiola is relishing this late stage of the season, with City in the race to win all four major honours, and believes that it will be easy to motivate his players for Saturday's semi-final after their heroics in Dortmund.

"It is much, much, much easier. Imagine playing that game after not qualifying for the Champions League semi-finals. It would be tougher.

"Of course I would love to have more days to enjoy our qualification, for recovery and to prepare for the game but the schedule is the schedule and when you are a contender in all competitions you have to handle this schedule."
