Sergio Aguero hands Man City and Pep Guardiola a fresh injury scare ahead of Arsenal visit

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola might have been delivered another injury scare ahead of Wednesday night's Premier League clash against Arsenal.

The defending Premier League champions have been in action against Manchester United this afternoon, but trailing 1-0 thanks to Anthony Martial's first-half goal has been the least of their problems.

Still trying to delay the inevitable of Liverpool being crowned champions of England, City welcome the Gunners to the Etihad Stadium next week in a big game for both teams.

However, the hosts could be without Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine was substituted just after the hour mark at Old Trafford as and confirmed by the Manchester Evening News , had treatment on his thigh.

It remains to be seen if the injury is serious or not, but it's likely that Guardiola will deliver an update during his post-match press conference.

City went into the game without the services of influential midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgium international sustained a shoulder problem during last weekend's Carabao Cup final victory over Aston Villa and subsequently missed the 1-0 FA Cup fifth round win over Sheffield Wednesday three days later.

Although, Guardiola had been hoping to call upon the midfielder at Old Trafford.

"He is getting better," the Spaniard said in his pre-match press conference . "Today we didn’t train and tomorrow he will improve.

"This morning he was with the physio and he said he feels better.

"Not perfect, but he feels better.

"We will see."

But when the City team was announced an hour before kick-off, there was no sign of De Bruyne in the matchday squad let alone the starting line-up meaning he's watching the derby from home.

Guardiola could have decided not to risk De Bruyne with the Arsenal clash on the horizon and should provide an update following the conclusion of events at Old Trafford.
