Sergio Aguero details Man City 'tension' ahead of training return

Sergio Aguero has admitted Manchester City’s players are “tense” about reporting back for training next week amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Premier League clubs have already started to welcome back players on an individual basis to workout at their HQ’s following social distancing.

Aguero said: "Around 15 days ago we were informed that the projected date for a return to training was to be 4 May but there are still meetings ongoing surrounding the matter.

”When we go back to train there is bound to be a certain degree of tension but there is still no certainty as when we resume competitive games.”

Aguero appeared to suggest hopes are receding that City could play the second leg of their Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

Should the elite European competition resume, City would host Real in the second-leg of their round 16 tie defending a 2-1 aggregate lead.

But with football curtailed in Holland, Belgium and France, all eyes are on Germany, England and Spain to see if they will follow suit.

Aguero told Spanish TV show El Chinguirito: "We would like to play the return leg with Madrid in public. It is not easy. We have a good result."

The Argentine's own future at City has been under consistent scrutiny of late amid speculation he could return to his homeland to end his career.

Aguero has previously admitted he would like to bow out back in Argentina at first club Independiente, but there is no sign of the 31-year-old slowing up yet.

His contract expires at the end of next season, but he hinted he could be prepared to sign an extension, though is still biding his time.

“I want to continue growing even more and this is my opportunity," Aguero said. "But for now, I’m not thinking about what to do."
