Sergio Aguero asked about Man City plans amid transfer interest from Independiente

Sergio Aguero refused to speculate on his Manchester City future when asked where he will play after his current contract expires in 2021.

Aguero, City's all time record goalscorer, is out of contract at the end of next season and is yet to commit his future to the Etihad club.

The Argentine striker, 31, has not made no secret of his desire to play in Argentina again before he retires, with former club Independiente publicly targeting Aguero for a return in recent weeks.

City have worked to tie down their key players long before their current deals are set to expire, with Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte, Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne all signing extensions in the last two years. Aguero, however, will enter the last year of his contract this summer.

Now, in an interview with Argenine broadcaster TyC, Aguero was asked about his future at the Etihad, but gave little away as he referred to the current uncertainty around the completion of the playing season.

"At the moment I am not thinking about what to do. With this, all the clubs are having problems," he said.

However, Aguero did expand on his hopes to continue playing at a high level until the end of 2022 so he can represent Argentina at the Qatar World Cup.

Aguero, who will be 33 when the winter tournament is held, said he can 'arrive without pain' to both the rescheduled 2021 Copa America and the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

"The first thing is to end this season, give everything to the next one that comes, the Copa America and the World Cup will be nothing," he said.
