Arsenal host Manchester City this weekend as they try to climb closer to the top four following their 3-1 win over West Ham.
The Gunners currently sit ninth in the Premier League but a win on Sunday (December 15) could see them jump to fifth in the table.
Injuries have plagued Freddie Ljungberg heading into the festive period, however. Kieran Tierney, Hector Bellerin, Granit Xhaka and Nicolas Pepe have all been struck in the last week.
Pep Guardiola is also struggling with injuries, however, which could give Arsenal the advantage when they take to the Emirates turf.
"John Stones has a muscular injury and don’t know when he will be back," the Spaniard told Manchester Evening News .
"Yesterday and today David Silva could not train. It was a kick in some part of the leg that is painful. It’s not a big issue. Tomorrow we'll see.
"Sergio (Aguero) is out as well, he’s still not training."
Manchester City have already had a tough time with injuries this season as Aymeric Laporte, Leroy Sane and Ederson have already been subject to time on the sidelines.
Laporte's knee injury has forced Guardiola to play Fernandinho at centre-back in recent weeks alongside Nicolas Otamendi which has coincided with City dropping points in the title race.
A 2-2 draw with Newcastle was recently followed up by a 2-1 loss at home to Manchester United which has left the Spaniard's side 14 points off league leaders Liverpool.
Despite the January transfer window being just weeks away and now falling behind Leicester in the Premier League, Guardiola has remained quiet on whether reinforcements will be brought into the club.
"The players who start the season will finish the season. No business. No, it’s not an issue (on Nathan Ake rumours)." he said.
