Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia in Barcelona for medicals ahead of summer transfers

Sergio Aguero is in Barcelona this morning to undergo a medical ahead of his expected move to Barcelona.

The Manchester City legend flew directly to the Catalan capital from Porto yesterday, following the Blues’ Champions League final defeat by Chelsea.

Aguero was in tears on the pitch after going on as a substitute in his final game for the club, ten years and 260 goals after signing.

But, as long as his medical goes well, he should sign for Barcelona and play next season alongside his close friend Lionel Messi.

The medical at the Hospital De Barcelona is not straightforward, and Barca are said to be taking extra caution given the Argentina ace’s history of injury troubles, especially the left knee problem which required surgery last year and has kept him out for much of the recent campaign.

As long as nothing shows up on the scans, Aguero is expected to sign a one-year deal with an option of a second year.

There is not expected to be any announcement this week - Aguero is due to fly out to Argentina tonight to link up with the national squad ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Chile on Friday.

Barca are expected to unveil the 32-year-old striker, who they will pick up on a free transfer after his City contract expires at the end of this month, following the Copa America, which starts in less than a fortnight.

Aguero is not the only City player to be joining Barcelona, with Eric Garcia also believed to be in the city, for a free transfer which may even be completed today (Monday).

The 20-year-old defender was an unused sub in the final, and had told City of his decision to leave this summer rather than sign a new deal, at the start of the season.

He confirmed his move on Sunday, saying: “I have thought about my future, what I think is the best now. I think it’s a brave decision. I am very convinced of the step I have taken.”

Garcia could be unveiled by Barca - who are also set to sign Liverpool midfielder Giorgio Wijnaldum and Real Betis right back Emerson, in the coming days
