Sergio Aguero addresses Barcelona transfer rumours amid uncertain future at Man City

Sergio Aguero has played down talk of a potential move to Barcelona.

The Manchester City legend is out of contract at the end of the season and, after an injury-hit campaign, his future at the club is far from certain.

That has led to speculation he could well move to Barcelona, with question marks over the future of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann at the Nou Camp following a disappointing season that saw them suffer an early Champions League exit.

With Barca having been hit hard financially by the coronavirus pandemic, signing a proven goalscorer like Aguero on a free transfer could well make sense to the Catalan club.

Yet Aguero has sought to play down any speculation over his future.

Speaking on his official Twitch channel, the Argentine reiterated that he is still a City player.

He said: "They are all writing Barca, Barca, Barca. Let's hold on a little, have a look.

"Stop. We are still with City."

Speaking recently, City boss Pep Guardiola admitted Aguero's future was uncertain.

Guardiola said he would love to keep the forward at the club but hinted that tough decisions may have to be made if he is not able to give Aguero the amount of football he would like.

"Maybe I will think about it when the international break starts and I have more time," he said.

"As a human and as a person – even as a player of course. But we have to see what happens at the end of the season.

"We cannot forget how long he was out. He has started getting better.

"I know he needs minutes to get to his best condition but we are not able to give him minutes for minutes because it is an important part of the season.

"We have to be calm, the club will speak to his agent to know the situation and we are going to talk at the end of the season. It’s the same with Fernandinho."
