Sergej Milinkovic-Savic discusses Man Utd transfer amid Maurizio Sarri bust-up clams

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has talked down any rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United.

Various reports connecting him with a potential move to Ralf Rangnick’s side proceeded to emanate after a purported rift with manager Maurizio Sarri.

Multiple stories in Italy were claiming the Serbian midfielder’s attitude in training and a recent Christmas dinner had sparked a falling out with the former Chelsea boss.

Dots were also naturally connected as United have been in the market for a new, commanding central midfielder for the last couple of seasons.

However, Milinkovic-Savic will likely not be that player, as the former Genk playmaker connoted his love and passion for Lazio on social media.

“I see lot of rumours about me but… I don’t care! I just want Lazio to win,” the Lazio star wrote on Instagram.

Sarri was also quick to pour cold water over rumours suggesting he had fallen out with the midfielder, who has contributed five goals and six assists in 19 Serie A appearances this season.

“I only had one fight with Luis Alberto, four months ago,” said Sarri.

“I read one of the biggest fake news, that I had a fight with Milinkovic-Savic. I don’t think so.”

Despite his post on Instagram, Milinkovic-Savic’s future remains a huge point of concern for the Italian giants, according to Il Messaggero.

An aura of uncertainty is still encapsulating the goalscoring midfielder, after his agent and former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman said a “new adventure” could be on the horizon for his client.

"He is a great club player,” said Kezman.

"Soon the time will come for him to live a new adventure and new dreams."

Moreover, the uncertainty around United midfielder Paul Pogba has also helped to feed the speculation linking Rangnick’s side to the Lazio star.

The Frenchman enters the final six months of his contract in January, yet there is a huge lack of clarity over his future.

A hamstring injury picked up while on international duty with France has prevented him from playing and training under Rangnick, since he replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, the German manager suggested he wants to give the World Cup winner a chance to prove himself and adapt to his new system.

"I have to get to know him. I have to speak to him. It is about being fully physically fit. The way we want to play is high intensity," Rangnick added.

"It will take some time for him to get fully fit. Once he is fully fit, I see him as a midfielder rather than a striker or a left winger.

"The only thing of interest to me is how do we get him fully fit.

"He can be an important player, I am fully aware of that. But that is true for all the players. I am not only the coach of Paul Pogba. I am also the coach of all the other players."

Rangnick’s reign at United has begun in steady but solid fashion, with consecutive 1-0 victories in the Premier League against Crystal Palace and Norwich City.
