Sergei Rebrov savours Celtic Champions League shock as Ferencvaros boss earns ultimate honour

Ferencvaros manager Sergei Rebrov has been honoured with the Order of Merit award in Ukraine after knocking Celtic out of the Champions League.

The Hungarians stunned the Hoops this week with a shock 2-1 win in Glasgow to dump the Hoops into the Europa League - the third year in a row they've failed to reach the group stage in Europe's premier tournament.

And the Budapest side's manager, former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham striker Rebrov, was handed one of Ukraine's highest personal awards by their President, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Ukraine handed out their awards for their country's Independence Day this week, which they gained in 1991. And Rebrov was given the Order of Merit award.

Rebrov said: "I am very proud to receive this award from the President of my country.

"This award is not just for my recent success here in Hungary, it's about how I have represented my country abroad.

"I will continue to serve my country to the best that I can and Im am thrilled with this recognition."

Rebrov, 46, won 75 caps for his country and won two titles each as manager of Dynamo Kiev and Ferencvaros as he aims a shock Champions League appaerance.
