Serge Gnabry's dad inspired his son's four-goal supershow as Bayern Munich hammered Tottenham 7-2 in their Champions League clash on Tuesday.
The former Arsenal striker was watched by family and friends as he returned to north London to put his old club's fierce rivals Tottenham to the sword .
And Gnabry said his goals took him back to his junior football days, with his dad having sent him a message before the Champions League Group B clash.
"My dad told me I had to play well tonight and luckily I didn't let him down," Gnabry said in quotes reported by Bundesliga.com . "Maybe I was in the Under-8s the last time I scored four in a game."
Gnabry is only the second German player to have scored four goals in a Champions League fixture.
Mario Gomez was the first, also for Bayern , against Besiktas in 2012, while teammate Robert Lewandowski scored four against Real Madrid when playing for Borussia Dortmund in 2013.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the last player to hit four in one game in the competition for Real in December 2015.
Gnabry scored his first two in the space of two minutes in the second half at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, after Joshua Kimmich had cancelled out Son Heung-Min's opener and Robert Lewandowski fired Bayern Munich into the lead.
But Gnabry wasn't done there and returned with another two goals in the final 10 minutes to truly embarrass Spurs.
After the match the 24-year-old took to Twitter to celebrate the victory and for Bayern Munich.
Alongside the pictures he wrote: "North London is RED."
Of course, Bayern play in red and the tweet references their dominant display over the north London side.
But the saying could also be interpreted to apply to the Gunners, and without doubt pays homage to his time growing up at Arsenal.
Gnabry joined Arsenal from Stuttgart in 2011 and worked his way through the ranks before joining West Brom on loan for the season in 2015.
Arsene Wenger sold him to Werder Bremen that summer but he spent just one season at the club before signing for Bayern Munich.
