Serge Aurier set to leave Tottenham as Jose Mourinho plans defensive shake-up

Jose Mourinho is set for a complete defensive shake-up with Serge Aurier set to leave this summer.

Tottenham are ready to offload the right back with AC Milan and Monaco both interested in the £35m-rated Aurier.

Ivory Coast international Aurier, 27, has never quite established himself as a reliable right back but was also hit by a terrible tragedy as his younger brother Christopher was shot and killed outside a nightclub last month.

Tottenham have already seen Jan Vertonghen leave on a free transfer while Kyle Walker-Peters is joining Southampton for £12m to offset the £15m arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who is moving the other way.

Spurs boss Mourinho had been interested in Thomas Meunier but the Belgium right back has joined Borussia Dortmund and now they want another full back and a centre half.

There has been interest in Ryan Sessegnon who has struggled to get regular football since his £25m arrival last summer.

But Tottenham have so far insisted that, despite a lot of interest including from former club Fulham to take him on loan, he is going nowhere.

Meanwhile midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is keen to seal a transfer to Inter Milan despite Tottenham not wanting to sell him.

The 23-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular spot since completing his club record move to Spurs last summer.

Ndombele has frequently been criticised publicly by Mourinho, and is now thought to be unhappy in London.

But Mourinho and Spurs still feel Ndombele can be a hit for the club and are not prepared to give up on the Frenchman just yet.

They could be prepared to do separate business with the Serie A giants though if defender Milan Skriniar is available.

Mourinho is an admirer of the 25-year-old and Inter feel they could tempt Spurs into a possible swap deal.
