Serge Aurier says he has "no feeling of hatred or revenge" towards brother's killer

Tottenham defender Serge Aurier has spoken for the first time about the murder of his younger brother Christopher, who was shot dead in the French city of Toulouse on Monday.

Christopher Aurier was shot in the abdomen outside a nightclub at 5am local time on Monday morning.

He later died in hospital, with the suspect handing himself in to police.

Spurs right-back Aurier played in his side's 3-1 win at Newcastle on Wednesday after making a personal request to manager Jose Mourinho, but he has now returned home to be with his family.

Speaking to French media outlet La Depeche, Aurier said: "I have no feeling of hatred or revenge.

"I work in a profession where you have to be calm. I'm calm. I have faith in justice. I am saddened, I am in regret. I continue to mourn the death of my brother."

Speaking about Christopher, he added: "He took care of everyone here while I was away.

"He took care of my mother, my nephews and nieces. He took care of all material things with pleasure. I really appreciated knowing that he was there for my mother. It set the mood at home."

Aurier also paid tribute to both Tottenham and Mourinho for their response to the tragedy, and for honouring his wish to play in Wednesday's match at St James' Park.

"Above all I thank my team, Tottenham," he said.

"I played last night (Wednesday). The club's players dedicated the match to his memory. I discussed it with the coach.

"I wanted to do this game and I did it. I knew that I would not be alone on the ground."

Mouinho praised Aurier's bravery before the Newcastle game, saying: "It's a strong decision from him. We'd always support him. If he decided not to play until the end of the season, we'd support him."

Aurier is now expected to stay in Toulouse with his family ahead of his brother's funeral.
