Serge Aurier posts Moussa Sissoko injury update after Tottenham star undergoes knee surgery

Spurs midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been ruled out of action for at least three months.

The French star picked up a knee injury against Southampton on New Year's Day, and the club confirmed this week that he would be spending an extended spell on the sidelines.

Sissoko underwent surgery on the medial cruciate ligament in his right knee on Tuesday, and the club hope to have him back in training in early April, meaning he is unlikely to be back playing again until the end of the season. That could put his place in the France squad at Euro 2020 in jeopardy.

Sissoko has been pictured back at Spurs' training ground just two days after undergoing the operation on his knee, with Serge Aurier posting a video on his Instagram story.

The 30-year-old was filmed on crutches and in a knee brace by Serge Aurier, and seemed to be in good spirits despite his injury.

The Ivory Coast international added a message to his Spurs teammate, stating: "Strength my son; the work resumes soon."

Sissoko was joined on the injury list at Southampton by Harry Kane, who limped off the field with a hamstring injury that could see him miss up to two months of football.

Meanwhile, Hugo Lloris is expected to return in February following his long spell on the sidelines with a dislocated elbow.
