Serge Aurier defends 'third lockdown breach' after visiting barber for haircut

Tottenham's Serge Aurier has defended himself after being criticised for what looks like a third lockdown breach.

The defender posted a picture on Instagram after receiving a haircut where he is posing with what looks to be a barber.

He has been subsequently slammed given the state of affairs in the UK but has come out fighting.

Aurier said on Instagram: "My hairdresser is negative and me too so stop talking in a vacuum and put on masks and gloves when you come to take pictures at the training center its part of the rules too."

The Tottenham squad returned to training on Tuesday with strict measures being taken to ensure safety.

The likes of Jan Vertonghen, Lucas Moura and Hugo Lloris were snapped as they entered their Enfield base.

But despite Aurier defending himself a spokesman for the north London club has said: "We are investigating the circumstances and will deal with the incident appropriately."

Aurier has already been caught flouting lockdown rules when he and Moussa Sissoko met up to train.

They apologised and made a donation to the NHS, saying: "We wish to apologise for not setting the right example here. We must all respect the government advice to minimise the number of lives lost during this pandemic."

Manager Jose Mourinho was also criticised last month when he oversaw a session involving Tanguy Ndombele at a park.

Davinson Sanchez and Ryan Sessegnon were also spotted running together.

Tottenham's first game is expected to be against Manchester United when the Premier League resumes.

The north London side are seven points adrift of Chelsea in fourth as they target a Champions League spot.
