Serena Williams shares clip of dad 'King Richard' with daughter, 4, ahead of film release

Serena Williams has shared an adorable clip of her father Richard with daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr on social media.

The sweet clip showed the tennis legend’s former coach filming and encouraging his granddaughter as she rode her bike past him.

The caption read: “A rare sighting, the one and only G.O.A.T. still motivating ... King Richard, but I call him daddy.”

The video was a rare sighting of Richard, who prefers to stay out of the spotlight since retiring from coaching his daughters.

The family are preparing for the release of King Richard, a biographical drama film following their lives and their father and legendary coach, who is played by Will Smith.

The film follows Richard’s journey in raising two of the most extraordinarily gifted athletes of all time, who would end up changing the sport of tennis forever.

Williams described the experience of watching the film about her life as “surreal” and also very emotional.

“It was really surreal. It’s really interesting, it’s so emotional, it's such a good movie and Will Smith does such a fantastic job with playing my dad, it's really genius,” she explained during an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

“We and Will wanted to make a movie that really honoured my dad. It really tells a story about what he did not only in tennis, but little did he know the impact that it would have just, literally on the globe.

“When I first saw it I was honestly bawling the whole time, but also because it’s memories. It was some really incredible stuff.”

The film hits screens in the UK on November 19th.

Williams plans to make a return to the tennis court at next year’s Australian Open after recovering from an hamstring injury that ended her 2021 season prematurely.

The tennis legend sustained the injury during her first round clash at Wimbledon this summer, leaving her unable to finish the match.

It also prevented her from competing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and US Open, but she is now ready to make a comeback in Melbourne next January.

“The hamstring is better. It took a long time, it took forever, but it's much better now," she told the popular television host.

When asked if she would be ready to play at next year’s first major event, Williams responded “yeah, definitely,” which received raucous cheers from the studio audience.
