One of the most dominant athletes in all of sports receives yet another accolade.
Compton-born Serena Williams was named the Female Athlete of the Year by the Associated Press on Friday for the fourth time in her decorated career.
Williams received 50 first-place votes and 352 points compared to Carl Lloyd, of the US women’s soccer team, who came in second-place with 14 first-place votes and 243 points.
UFC superstar Ronda Rousey finished third ahead of Holly Holm, who knocked Rousey out in the second round to won the UFC bantamweight championship belt nearly one month ago.
The 34-year-old tennis superstar dominated in 2015, winning her first three Grand Slams of the season. Williams was unable to make a clean sweep of 2015 when she was defeated by Roberta Vinci at the US Open.
Williams ended the year with a 53-3 match record with five singles titles.
Williams also won the AP award in 2002, 2009 and 2013. She now joins Chris Evert as a four-time award-winner.
The only other female athlete with more AP selections is Babe Didrikson — whose won six for her achievements in athletics and golf.
