Serena Williams in tears as sporting world salutes Tiger Woods after US Masters win

Giants of the sporting world have been queuing up to pay tribute to Tiger Woods after the 43-year-old defied the odds to once again claim one of golf's biggest prizes.

Woods completed a miracle comeback from back surgery and a turbulent period in his personal life to return to the summit of the sport at Augusta National, claiming his 15th major title, 11 years after his previous triumph.

Tennis giant Serena Williams led the tributes, saying she was "literally in tears" watching his comeback performance.

Some of golf's best and brightest were also quick off the mark in congratulating their rival, including Jack Nicklaus — whose record of 18 major titles is being chased down by Woods — and Great White Shark, Greg Norman.

NBA stars LeBron James and Steph Curry also expressed their admiration, although Curry hoped for a little more from Woods as a result of him claiming a fifth green jacket.

US President Donald Trump — a noted golfer despite recent reports bringing his prowess on the fairways into question — also jumped on the bandwagon.
