Serena Williams hilariously avoids Naomi Campbell’s question about Meghan Markle’s move to Los Angeles

Venus and Serena Williams got candid with Naomi Campbell in the latest interview for the model’s YouTube series, No Filter With Naomi.

In the hour-long chat, the tennis superstar sisters opened up about everything from competing in their first tournament together to the lack of racial diversity in tennis. There was one subject, however, that was (unsurprisingly) off the table - Meghan Markle.

But Naomi, who stated that she’s known Venus and Serena since the ‘90s, wasn’t afraid to ask anyway.

“Are you happy that your girlfriend’s moved to America?” Campbell asked Serena, clarifying that she was talking about Meghan Markle - you know, just in case there was any confusion.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I don’t know nothing about that,” joked Serena, as she, Naomi and Venus burst out into laughter. “Never seen her, never heard of her, don’t know her,” she added, comically whistling until Naomi changed the subject.

Serena first met Meghan in 2010, and the two established a friendship over the years that saw Serena attend Meghan’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. Meghan also attended the U.S. Open in 2019 to cheer on Serena.

This isn’t the first time that the tennis pro has politely declined to answer questions about the Duchess of Sussex. In late January, when Serena was asked at the Australian Open about her thoughts on Harry and Meghan’s historic decision to step down as senior members of the royal family, she also played it cool.

“Yeah, I have absolutely no comments on anything with that,” Serena told the reporter. “But good try. You tried. You did good.”
