Crystal Palace ace Luka Milivojevic has quit international football ahead of Serbia’s clash with Ireland in a fortnight.
The midfielder made the decision after new boss Dragan Stojkovic left him out of his 30-man squad for the World Cup qualifier in Belgrade on March 24.
Milivojevic has a fiery history with the Serbian FA and he fumed: "They accomplished their task of getting me out of the national team.
“I can only blame myself for not making this decision sooner.
“I stuck around for the sake of the team as I believed things would get better. I hope they’re proud of themselves."
Milivojevic - capped 38 times - told Serbian media : "I want to thank the new coach for helping me make a decision which I've been contemplating for a while.
"I’m saying goodbye to my Serbia shirt at the age of 29 and I wish the national team the best of luck in their future endeavours."
Stojkovic - who named five newcomers in his squad to face Ireland - wants new blood into the national team.
Ex-Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov, 35, was among the bigger names axed on Friday.
Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic retired from international football in August and will play no part against Stephen Kenny’s charges.
