Sepp van den Berg frustration continues as Liverpool new signing remains unavailable

Liverpool fans will again be made to wait to see summer signing Sepp van den Berg in action.

The 17-year-old Dutch defender will sit out Sunday's pre-season friendly at League Two side Bradford City as he awaits international clearance from FIFA following his £1.3million move from PEC Zwolle last month.

Van den Berg was part of the squad that opened the warm-up campaign with a 6-0 win at League One neighbours Tranmere Rovers on Thursday but was unable to play.

Liverpool now expect the youngster to make his bow during the US tour next week, with Jurgen Klopp having already hinted Van den Berg will have an opportunity to prove himself worthy of first-team consideration this season.

"It depends," said the Reds boss. "I open the door but the boys have to go through still.

Blood Red: Jurgen Klopp on whether Sepp van den Berg will get a first team place

"He is a wonderful player as well, but we have other good players.

"He is 17 years old and when you see him you forget that constantly, but he is 17 and so there is a lot to learn. The good thing is he has the most time to do so, so everything will be fine."
